Bevel gears are a type of gear transmission mechanism, also known as helical bevel gears or bevel gears. It consists of conical gears and cylindrical gears. The tooth surface of a conical gear is conical, while the tooth surface of a cylindrical gear is cylindrical. They have different numbers of teeth and pitches, but their spiral lines have opposite directions. When two gears mesh, due to the large tooth pitch, the bevel gear can withstand a larger radial load.
Bevel gears are mainly used for transmitting high-power and high torque mechanical equipment, such as ships, ships, heavy machinery, heavy rail transit vehicles, etc. They are usually installed on suspended sliding bearings and lubricated with lubricating oil.
The following is the manufacturing process of the bevel gear.
Material selection: The material used for manufacturing bevel gears is generally high-quality alloy steel or tool steel, which has excellent wear resistance, strength, and toughness, and can meet the usage requirements of bevel gears.
Turning tooth profile: first, select appropriate tools and design the tooth profile according to the number of teeth and pressure angle of the gear. Then, through the gear mechanism on the lathe, the tooth shape is turned onto the gear.
Gear grinding: After gear turning, a gear grinding process is required to improve the accuracy and flatness of the gear. Gear grinding is mainly achieved through a gear grinding machine, where gears are placed on the machine and ground through the rotation of the grinding wheel.
Drilling and grooving: The center hole and keyway of the bevel gear need to be drilled and grooved. Firstly, use tools to drill holes, and then use milling machines, planers, and other machine tools to dig out the keyway to ensure its accuracy and flatness.
Heat treatment: Bevel gears require quenching or carburizing to enhance their hardness and strength. The quenched bevel gear needs to undergo tempering treatment to eliminate residual stress and improve toughness.
Assembly: After the above process, the bevel gear can be assembled into a gear set, installed in a gearbox, and combined with other gears to form a transmission system, completing the transmission of various mechanical equipment.
